
Reservations and starting times are booked either via our website or for Tour Operators and groups over twelve golfers via the Secretary’s office.
Reporting on arrival visitors should report first to the Professional Shop where they will be advised of the Clubhouse access code.
Handicaps All Visitors must be members of a golf club and must produce a current handicap certificate to the Professional’s Shop on arrival. Society handicaps are not acceptable.
Dress The general principle is that visitors shall conform to the best of the golf standards both on and off the course.
On the Course golf shoes are to be worn; tailored shorts may be worn with knee-length or short socks.
In the Clubhouse
Smart casual wear is accepted in the Spike Bar and Main Lounge. Golf shoes and waterproof clothing are not to be worn in the Clubhouse other than in the locker rooms and Spike Bar. Jeans, tracksuits, t-shirts and training shoes/sneakers are not permitted either on the course or in the Clubhouse.
Course Etiquette
Two ball matches have precedence over and should be allowed to pass any three or four-ball matches.
Single players should give way to matches of any kind.
All holes and footprints must be raked on leaving a bunker.
All divots are to be replaced and pitch marks repaired.
Golf bags should not be placed on greens.
The
Practice Range facility is available.
Mobile Phones must not be used in the Clubhouse except in the Locker Rooms
Buggies Use of a ride-on buggy is restricted to visitors who have a genuine incapacity to play golf unless aided by the use of the buggy. Ride-on buggies are available to rent. Anyone wishing to use a buggy should complete the policy on our website www.royalbirkdale.com and contact in writing to the Secretary’s office.
Trolleys Moterised and hand trolleys may be hired from the Professional Shop.
Catering is available from 9.00am until 7.00pm (6.00pm on Sundays) between 1st April and 31st October and from 9.00am until 5.00pm between 1st November and 31st March. They may also be provided outside of these hours. Visitors should contact the Secretary’s office in advance to confirm availability.
Security No liability can be accepted for any articles left unattended on the premises, or in the car park. Visitors are advised to take all reasonable precautions to secure their property and ensure valuables are not left on show in their cars.

Smoking or Vaping is permitted anywhere in the Clubhouse.
