England Golf has made it mandatory for all golf clubs to adopt their safeguarding guidelines to allow players of all ages to enjoy the game in a safe environment. This is a link to their webpage on the subject which outlines the objectives of the scheme.

Over the last few months the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, in particular, the Junior Committee and Trustees have taken steps to ensure that the Club is compliant in all aspects of the scheme. To this end, all members of the Junior Committee have undergone specific training courses and been subject to DBS checks.

We also have two newly appointed welfare officers.

The Professional Shop staff have also undertaken PGA courses to ensure they are in full knowledge of the legislation.
